Italian meal

Food is an important part of Italian life. Around 13.00 almost all shops close in Italy and then the siesta starts. Most Italians will start the most important meal of the day: lunch. A lunch that lasts two hours is no exception. (Bread and wine are always available)

Italians eat much later then people from England and the Netherlands. Do not be surprised when Italians arrive in a restaurant after eight!

Antipasti (appetizers, various snacks: roasted tomatoes, ham, melon, onion, vitello tonnato (veal in tuna sauce), cold piece of omelette)

Primo Piatto (1st dish) (pasta: spaghetti, tortelini, trofi, ravioli or risotto)

Secondo Piatto (main course / second dish ) (meat, fish, poultry )

Many Italians conclude their meal with a spirit.
